Few cottages, lots of space
Op Pean-buiten Akkrum There are exactly twelve water lodges on three hectares, each with approximately 400 m² of open space around it. Where dozens of cottages would fit elsewhere, the choice here is for air, reeds, and water.
What does small-scale mean in practice?
You park centrally and walk to your accommodation with a luggage trolley; cars are not allowed near the lodges. It is quiet on the grounds from 23:00 PM onwards. Best Small-Scale Holiday Park twice in a row, in 2025 and 2026.
A small team that knows you by name
Not an anonymous counter, but a small team. Pean It started as a sailing school in 1968, and you can still feel it: the same people who welcome you show you the most beautiful sailing route. One number for everything: 058 762 10 11.
What do you notice about that as a guest?

Sustainable and green
No large-scale entertainment, but a food forest of about one hectare, electric boats, and a floating sauna. Pean-buiten Akkrum is Green Key Gold certified, since 2024.
What do you see of that?
Rainwater is collected, showers and toilets are economical, wastewater passes through its own filter, and there is no single-use plastic. Picking is allowed in the food forest: including blackberries, raspberries, and figs.

Two atmospheres, both small-scale
Op Pean-buiten Akkrum you sleep in a water lodge right on De Alde Feanen National Park, for two to six people. On Pean-buiten Weidum You will stay around a farmhouse from 1867, eight kilometers from Leeuwarden.
What suits you?
With children and a boat: Akkrum, with the water slide that ends in the lake. For two and peace: Weidum, primarily aimed at adults, with tiny houses in the meadow and a restaurant on the premises.

The number, the space, and the people. Twelve lodges in a location where much more could have been done, about 400 m² per cottage, and a small dedicated team that personally arranges your stay.
Is it busy during the school holidays?
Even when all twelve lodges are occupied, only a handful of households stay on the premises. Be sure to book in time for the school holidays, as we get fully booked quickly.
Is this park suitable for peace seekers?
Yes, tranquility is the core of the design. You hear reed beds and birds, not animated sounds. If you prioritize peace and quiet, choose Weidum: that estate is geared towards adults.
Are children welcome?
Op Pean-buiten Akkrum Certainly: the water lodges, the food forest, and the electric boats are a treat for families. Our location Pean-buiten Weidum is primarily aimed at adults; children are welcome in the Group Accommodation and the two houseboats.
What is there to do without a wide range of activities?
You rent an electric sloop without a boating license, walk through the food forest, or jump into the lake from the floating sauna. The surroundings are the program here.
