Meeting in Friesland, by the water or among the meadows
Pean-buiten has two places to hold meetings, both outside the city. Weidum is a farm dating back to 1867, eight kilometers from Leeuwarden. And Akkrum is situated by the water, next to De Alde Feanen National Park.
What is the difference?
In Weidum, you hold meetings in De Deel, the converted hay barn, with the restaurant in the courtyard. In Akkrum, you sit in the old cowshed or by the water. So the choice is about the landscape, not the level.
How big are the rooms?
De Deel at Weidum is fifteen by fifteen meters, 225 square meters, and five meters high. Additionally, there is the meeting room in the Voorhuis, 96 square meters.
How many people fit in it?
In De Deel thirty at the table and fifty in theater seating, in the Voorhuis sixteen. In Akkrum, De Jister goes from thirty to 120. And the Sinnekant does thirty, De Berch up to 25 and Goudule up to sixteen.
What is in the room?
In every meeting room at both locations, there is a television screen, a flip chart, and Wi-Fi.
And what is missing?
No projector, no sound system, and no microphones. But there is background music. Anyone who needs something else should bring it themselves.
How much does a meeting day cost?
A meeting day costs €41,50 per person, including VAT. This includes a welcome with coffee, tea, and pastries, coffee and tea throughout the day, and a homemade lunch prepared by our chef.
What else is added to that?
Two fixed daily rates: the meeting package (screen with HDMI, flip chart, and fruit water) for €37,50, and the room: €300 to €750 per day, depending on the room and location.
Homemade meals
At Weidum, Restaurant WeidumerHout stands on the grounds, and that is part of Pean-buitenThe chef works with the new Frisian cuisine: local products, following the seasons, including vegetarian options.
Can it also continue into the evening?
Yes. With drinks afterwards, it is €59,50 per person. With a dinner of your choice, it is €79,00 per person, plus the dinner (pinsa €27,50, BBQ €41,50, or a 3-course surprise dinner €47,50) and €350 for kitchen and service. Please inform us of any dietary requirements or allergies, and the kitchen will take care of it.
Staying over after the meeting
No one needs to stay sober for a day that ends in the evening. You can stay overnight at both locations.
How many beds are there?
Op Pean-buiten Weidum 54 beds, in 26 double rooms. And on Pean-buiten Akkrum 180 beds, distributed across twelve water lodges and three group accommodations.
Meeting in the green
Meeting in a green setting here means walking outside between sessions. Both locations feature three hectares of grounds.
What do you do there then?
A stroll through the orchard at Weidum, or through the food forest at Akkrum. And in good weather, a meeting can simply take place at a table outside.
A strategy day is something different.
A strategy day is different from a meeting day. There is more time, it often includes an overnight stay, and the program runs throughout the day.
Where is that described?
We have a dedicated page for that, with the experiences of teams that have done it here.
Out on the water afterwards
At the end of a day indoors, a team usually wants to get out on the water. That is possible here, right from the yard.
Who does that enjoy?
An electric sloop for eight, a stand-up paddleboard, or a canoe, all without a boating license. Sailing is also possible, on Pean-buiten Akkrum, in a Polyvalk or with a skipper.
How far is it to drive?
Meeting outdoors doesn't have to be far away. Pean-buiten Weidum is located eight kilometers from Leeuwarden.
And from the other cities?
Sneek fifteen kilometers, Heerenveen seventeen, Drachten eighteen, Franeker 25, and Harlingen 35. So for most Frisian teams, it is a half-hour drive.
Accessibility of the spaces
Not every room is equally easy to access for everyone. We prefer to mention this in advance rather than on the day itself.
Which rooms are wheelchair accessible?
At Weidum, De Deel and the Voorhuis. Also at Akkrum, De Jister and the Sinnekant. Not De Berch and Goudule, because there are thresholds and stairs there.
Request a date
A meeting day starts with a date and the number of people. Indicate whether it will be a half-day or a full day, whether you would like to have lunch, and whether anyone will be staying overnight.
Feel free to come and take a look first. And that costs nothing; it saves you a lot of emailing.
